The Montour Trail Council is experimenting with this blog format as a way to more quickly communicate breaking news to MTC members and trail users. Examples could be a last-minute update on an upcoming trail event, or general interst news such as temporary trail closures. Stay tuned as we determine the best way to use this new tool.

Test.
P.S. The invitations that were sent out are not to be a part of this blog, but to create our own. Not sure if you knew that or not.

That’s OK. You need to create a WordPress account, and you have the option to have your own blog as part of that process. You can just ignore the personal blog, unless you want to use it.

We all hope the trail will soon look like the photo so we can comfortably spend more time there.

I often ride the Yough Trail, starting in Mckeesport, and was wondering if they soon plan on building a trail from Mckeesport to Clairton to connect to the Montour trail??
2nd question:…What is the status of the Triphammer/Piney Fork section of trail,(mile 38.2) heading east approximately another mile.Rumor is this section will be completed this year or the beginning of 2011??

There is a “on-road” trail section of the Steel Valley Trail from McKeesport to Clairton (known on some Passage maps as the “Clairton Connector”). It is marked mainly by easy to follow SVT signs. More information can be found at steelvalleytrail.org

Not sure what this accomplishes that the main Yahoo group does not. Are we replacing the main Yahoo group? Wouldn’t having another place for various mainline MTC posts just dilute the effectiveness of the mainline Yahoo group? Or are we just trying to get more airtime in general at the cost of spreading ourselves thinner? Does this mean we will be essentially duplicating announcements on Twitter and Facebook as well? So subscribing to one of the various channels would be a more effective choice than subscribing to several? Or will useful discussions be confined to the particular stovepipe that they originated on? Meaning that to stay informed, one would have to subscribe to ALL of the various dissemination channels/stovepipes/methods/tools?

In about month or so I’m going to take the wife on the trail from Bethel Park to Coraopolis. Does anyone know of a B&B or nice hotel in down town Coraopolis or over the bridge in Sewickley?
Thanks

I often ride the Montour Trail, but avoid the part from Triphammer/Piney Fork to Snowden,(Mile 38 to 39.5) because of the steep climb and dangerous road condition around the tunnel, especially when riding with my young children.Does anyone know when the completion of this small part of the trail will be finished??I heard they might complete this section this year.Is it just rumor??? Can you let me know.I live near this section of the trail.
